Sweden is known for its leadership; humane, ability to manage conflicts and being efficient. Now, two of the best known and most highly experienced Swedish coaches, both with a background in theatre and more than thirty years of experience in communicative leadership, are offering a CPD-licensed course for UK solicitors.

“They are among the most competent and professional consultants in the  area of communicative leadership in Europe.”

Dag Svensson, Vattenfall Pan Europe

Per Klefelt has a background as a mime and actor. He has studied creative pedagogy and drama at the University of Stockholm and has been a fulltime communication consultant with some of the largest Swedish companies over the last thirty years.

Peter Böök was the principal of a theatre school for eight years and headed his own theatre for thirty five years. He has directed more than eighty theatre productions, worked internationally and taught thousands of acting and directing students. He has a background as an economist, has studied social psychology and fine arts at the University of Stockholm.

Per and Peter have worked together more than twelve years with companies such as Ericsson, SEB, Vattenfall – one of Europe´s leading energy companies, the Swedish Postal Service and Scandic Hotels.

“They are very qualified in these areas and their courses are never boring, crammed with facts or traditional. Participants leave the training with very tangible learning and have had a lot of fun.”

Berit Edlund, Karo Bio AB

This course will be

  • Individually adapted We will give individual feedback. The idea is not to standardize your communication style. Rather it is to enhance your positive skills and make you aware of the areas you need to work on.
  • Fun We believe that an atmosphere of friendly work with a lot of laughs is a key to pedagogic learning.
  • Interactive We don´t believe in long talks about theory. Instead we adopt a hands-on approach with a lot of active participation and training, some of it taken from the communicative training of actors. Sam Levenson: “You must learn from the mistakes of others. You can´t possibly live long enough to make them all yourself.”
  • Restricted You have to be a UK solicitor to apply and we will not accept more than 16 participants so that we can focus on the individual learning process.

We will work and train in the areas of

  • Using Active Listening according to Thomas Gordon
  • The I-message
  • Basic and individual techniques of presentation
  • Skills in handling a difficult conversation
  • Skills in handling a difficult group
  • The art of using pauses and silence
  • Avoiding chain questions and using closed questions only when they are called for

We expect you after the course to have

  • A greater understanding of your own strengths and areas in need of improvement in your communicative skills, abilities and styles
  • Three key bullets that you can continue working on
  • Awareness of your body language, the impact of it on your surroundings and how to enhance it
  • Awareness the body language of others and the ability to read it
  • Foremost, an enhanced ability to “sell your message”

”I think that your Swedish spin on leadership communication could work very well in the UK.”
